Probio-wha?

If you’re anything like me, Instagram-viral dietary supplements tend to trigger immediate skepticism. What do these influencers know about what’s good for me and my body?! 🤔

First, what are probiotics and why do we even need them?

Well, as its name suggests, probiotics work for your good: These are “good” or “healthy” bacteria which help to keep your gut healthy! Contrary to centuries of popular belief, 99% of bacteria is actually good for you – and can be found living in and on us. 😱😳

Among other benefits, probiotics aid in your digestion and regulate your metabolism. The vast majority of them reside in your gut, hence the term “gut health”.

But even aside from your gut, probiotics can be found in the mouth, skin and vagina (if applicable) too. And that’s not all – we’re still discovering new ones! Organs which were once thought to be sterile, such as the lungs, bladder and eyes, are now teeming with distinct microbial life. This makes it all the more crucial that we develop our understanding on probiotics and how to cultivate them. 🤓😎

Why you should trust us

Our team has spent over 15 hours extensively testing and researching the best wellness products, including MUD\WTR. Our goal is to find the best brands who care about your well-being and help people live better lives. We evaluate supplements based on their adherence to quality, and their latest medical evidence.

We often ask ourselves a simple question: would we buy the product for ourselves and recommend it to our family and friends? This review is medically reviewed and thoroughly vetted by Amy Bells, our in-house dietian nutritionist, wellness expert and product tester herself!

How we tested Seed probiotics

Seed ProbioticsPin
@seed

I’m always up for trying new products that are meant to look after my insides – beauty starts from within, after all! I have always wondered about probiotics – what on earth are they, and how should I go about taking them? 🤔🤔🤔

I’d never bothered to do the research – I must admit. So, when the opportunity arose to test out Seed, I was excited. The website is super cool and interesting, and it only took me a few minutes to learn everything I needed to know about probiotics and what they could do for me.

Seed only offers two products – probiotics for adults and for children/teens. This took the pressure off of me having to try and pick between lots of different products. 😪

Shipping was super quick, and I had my pot of Seed probiotics to try for myself. I got a free travel vial with my purchase, which was a nice touch as I do like to travel on weekends.

I started taking them right away, two capsules with water to start my day. Seed told me that it’s best to take them on an empty stomach, so that is exactly what I did. 😎😎

Within just a few days, I could notice a difference in how much I was bloating. I’m usually a serial bloater – what can I say, I love carbs! 😋😍

But after a few days of taking Seed, I noticed that the waistband of my trousers wouldn’t get so tight as the day went on. I also noticed that I wasn’t suffering from the usual symptoms that come along with bloating – nausea, fatigue, uncomfortableness. 😍

That was a nice surprise! I also found that my skin got better, too. This didn’t happen as quickly as the bloating – it took a few weeks for my skin to change. However, once it had, I noticed fewer breakouts and a nicer texture. I even got compliments on my new glow.

I have now signed up for the subscription to Seed so that I never miss a day of probiotics. I really liked that the second month’s packaging was a pouch so that I could pour it into my original bottle. Any business that is passionate about preventing global warming is one that I want to get behind! 🤩🤩🤩

After one month,. I feel amazing in myself and cannot wait to see what other effects I benefit from in the coming months.

What makes Seed probiotics special?

Seed ProbioticsPin
@seed

Truth be told – there’s nothing particularly groundbreaking about probiotics. Walk into any supermarket or pharmacy and you’re bound to find a plethora of brands and products which make huge claims on what they’re line of probiotics might achieve. In fact, you could even go the extra mile and delve into the world of medical-grade probiotics, which is a different ball game altogether. 😲

On the flipside, what makes Seed special is the thought process that goes into creating their line of probiotics, and their unwavering dedication to educating their customers of the same.

In Seed’s own words, the science of probiotics demands precision. That’s precisely why they’ve collaborated with leading scientists and research partners from all over the world and have devoted tons of resources to ensure their probiotics create positive outcomes across a range of health areas, including gastrointestinal, dermatological, oral, pediatric and nutritional health. 🔥🔥🔥

As a self-declared science noob, it far exceeds my level of intelligence to even attempt to recount the elaborate process undertaken by Seed to get their probiotics rights. From what I understand, the brand begins with microbial strain validation through biofermentation, stabilization, scale-up and clinical research. Thereafter, the probiotics are put through an end-to-end, whole-genome process of testing (and it’s the first time this is even being done with probiotics!) Tests are run in Seed’s own Simulator of the Human Intestinal Microbial Ecosystem (“SHIME”), which mimics the model human digestion and gut to ensure that the fragile bacteria are set up to thrive when actually consumed by customers.

Near the tail-end of the preparation process, these probiotics were put through extensive testing, including allergen contaminant testing, quality control tests and tests to ensure global quality adherence.

The entire process is backed by an impressive scientific board consisting of scientists, researchers, doctors and authors. 👨‍⚕️👨‍⚕️👨‍⚕️

One thing we absolutely love about Seed is it’s whole-hearted commitment to ensuring that consumers actually know the extent they’ve gone to create a superior probiotic. This entire process outlined above is laid out in greater detail on Seed’s website, demonstrating transparency and thoroughness in the creation process. This is undeniably one of the most important factors in deciding who to entrust your gut health to! 💯

Seed have even gone 1 step further to educate customers about Microbiomes and Probiotics. They’re also rather cleverly inserted a link to “All Cultured Articles” for the intellectually curious among us to partake in and be educated. 👍

Seed’s probiotics

Now, let’s discuss the actual product. The product line up is actually fairly simple, with the brand offering just 2 products.

The first is the DS-01 Daily Synbiotics for adults aged 18 and above. This is a 2-in-1 capsule in capsule prebiotic and probiotic, formulated with 24 scientifically studied probiotic strains and a polyphenol-based prebiotic to support systemic health. This is aimed specifically at cultivating gastrointestinal and whole-body health. This retails at $49.99/month.

For the young among us, fret not – Seed has devised the PDS-08 Pediatric Daily Synbiotic for kids and teens between the ages of 3 to 17. Again, this is a clinically studied 2-in-1 powdered synbiotic, formulated for children and adolescents with 9 probiotic strains and a fiber-based prebiotic. This retails at $39.99/month.

The product’s capsule-in-capsule design shields against digestion, ensuring viability of live probiotics through the end of the small intestine for delivery into the colon.

The probiotic is also vegan, nut-free, corn-free, gluten-free, shellfish-free, dairy-free, soy-free, sesame-free, free of binders and preservatives, and more. Chances are, this product is likely to steer clear of any allergens you may be concerned about. ALL people approved! 👨‍🦰👵🧓🧑👩‍🦳👴👩‍🦱

As a bonus feature, all of Seed’s probiotics come in a sustainable refill system. Their packaging and materials are engineered to be gentler on the earth, with the welcome kit including a free travel vial (which looks stunning, if we might add), and refills arrive monthly in compostable biofilm. Talk about wins ALL around! ✨✨✨

Comparison: Seed vs. Ritual

Ritual is another popular vitamin brand, just like Seed, that offers a small but mighty capsule for gut health. But which is best?😕😕

Ritual offers probiotics for women over 18 years old, men over 18 years old, as well as women over 50 years old. In comparison, Seed only offers one formula for humans over the age of 18, as well as a formula for children and teenagers under 18.

Seed’s DS-01™ Daily Synbiotic contains both prebiotics and probiotics. Ritual’s Synbiotic+ also uses prebiotics and probiotics, but they also include postbiotics as well. Postbiotics offer fuel for the gut lining and support gut barrier function, giving Ritual the edge on benefits.

Ritual only requires you to take one capsule while Seed requires two. Both offer a month’s supply for the same price. 🤑🤑🤑

Overall, both of these capsules offer similar benefits at the same price point. However, Ritual’s Synbiotic+ offers 3-in-1 benefits, which can aid your digestion even more than that of Seed’s DS-01™ Daily Synbiotic.

What other customers are saying

Seed ProbioticsPin
@daveexplores

The brand makes some pretty bold claims about what their probiotics can do. They’re formulated with strains to support:

  • Digestive health
  • Gut barrier integrity
  • Gut immune function
  • Cardiovascular health
  • Dermatological health
  • Micronutrient synthesis

But let’s hear the word on the street to determine if these claims actually have materialised.

One customer claims, “I can personally attest that Seed is more effective than any other probiotic I’ve taken in the past. I noticed a difference within days of switching. Like Seed suggests, I started off with just 1 capsule a day while my body acclimated. On day 2 I was having multiple bowel movements in a day. By day 3 and 4 the number of bowel movements leveled off, and I also noticed I was having less bloating and my stomach appeared flatter. I began upping to 2 capsules a day on day 5 and my body handled it just fine. Within a few weeks I noticed my skin looked brighter, and I noticed a significant uptick in my energy (which is saying a lot since I have 3 boys under the age of 6, and will take all the extra energy I can get!)” 📈📈📈

Another user also praised the products, along with their re-filling model: “Seed has definitely improved my regularity and digestive health. It’s great to be able to use the subscription model for something used daily.  I also appreciate that they don’t send a new bottle every month. It’s also easy to update your subscription on their website.

Finally, one user specifically lauded the probiotic for helping with a nagging allergy: “Just 3 days after taking Seed I stopped feeling bloated and a lot of general inflammation and puffiness I’ve experienced has gone away. My allergies just stopped along with a chronic cough I had for months. I feel so much better and this is the only thing I changed in the past few months. My overall health is a night and day difference.” 🤩🥳

Are Seed probiotics worth it?

@jaclynsiu

If what you’re looking for is a probiotic based on sound, detailed research which is transparently shared with consumers and creators alike, then look no further than Seed probiotics who are clearly miles ahead of the curve. The brand has taken great pains to lay out its detailed methodologies on its website, which ensure that consumers know exactly what they’re getting into, and what they can get out of these probiotics.

Sure, the monthly costs of purchasing these probiotics may seem steep at first glance. But this initial concern is severely dwarfed by the enormous long-term health benefits that these probiotics can bring – and in some cases (as with the reviewers listed above), an overnight change is apparent too! 👀

And of course, it doesn’t hurt that these probiotics serve as a beautiful aesthetic piece on any dining table or kitchen shelf. 😍😍😍

So, if you’re looking for something easy on the eyes, gut, skin and overall wellbeing – we suggest you jump right in without any delay.
