The new coffee alternative
Caffeine is a stimulant that can make us feel wonderful. At least for a time. We (over)rely on caffeine to boost our concentration and make us feel more alert and get things done1Jane V. Higdon & Balz Frei (2006) Coffee and Health: A Review of Recent Human Research, Critical Reviews in Food Science and Nutrition, 46:2, 101-123. But in recent years, many of us have formed a love-hate relationship with coffee.
That’s because the high caffeine in coffee makes us jitter and crash. Worse, we get used to it. The more we drink it, the more we need it. This becomes an unhealthy dependency. 😓
Not only that, but many people find the caffeine content of regular coffee so high that it can give them anxiety. This is because, along with the increased heart rate, the caffeine in coffee stimulates adrenaline. This adrenaline can increase anxiety in many of us. Many people even have anxiety attacks and heart palpitations2Richards G, Smith A. Caffeine consumption and self-assessed stress, anxiety, and depression in secondary school children. J Psychopharmacol. 2015 induced by such high caffeine intakes. And in the long run, we believe coffee addiction is just not good for most people.
But we’ve found a happy medium for you. 😏😏😏
Introducing MUD\WTR, or Mud for short. A coffee alternative that gives you that buzz you crave but won’t cause jitters. This incredible beverage contains just enough caffeine to give you the buzz you’re after but without the increased anxiety, crashes and dependency. 👅🙆🙏

How we tested MUD\WTR
I love drinking coffee. Seriously, you won’t see me without a cup of coffee in my hand – I live for the stuff. My caffeine intake is around six to eight cups a day each. ☕️☕️☕️☕️☕️☕️☕️☕️
I know that coffee isn’t good for me, but it helps me get through the day with high energy levels and a smile on my face. 😁
Every now and then I will convince myself that I will give up my delicious cappuccinos for more water intake throughout the day, but I always fail within a few hours.
So, when I heard about MUD\WTR I was instantly attracted to the program. To be able to give up coffee in just four weeks seemed too good to be true, and I was skeptical about the taste of the mud drink. 🥴
Nevertheless, I signed up for the program and was immediately invited in with plenty of optimistic emails and support through the process. I also joined the private Facebook group where others can give you support.
I also purchased a Morning Ritual Starter Kit, containing 30 servings of mud, a rechargeable frother, a guidebook, one sample of sweetener, one sample of creamer, and a pack of stickers.
That Monday, I decided to start the process. I began an extremely tired Monday morning with my first cup of MUD\WTR. 😴
The first thing I noticed was how easy it was to make. Simply add one tablespoon of the mud powder to a cup of water and mix using the frother. The frother was amazingly powerful. I added the creamer and sweetener and was on my way.
I didn’t have the highest hopes for the taste of MUD\WTR – it is literally called mud! 🤢 But as I braved the first sip, I was pleasantly surprised by how delicious it was. It tasted just like a chai latte blended with a mocha. It was amazing!
It goes incredibly well with my favoruite almond milk (however, you could also try coconut milk or oat milk!)🤤
I found my energy levels pick up soon after finishing the cup! 🥳 Perhaps not as much as my coffee offered, but still enough to keep me going.
That day, I experienced no jitters or anxious feelings, and I felt calmer throughout the day while still having enough energy. It made a nice change!
Now that I have finished my first tin of mud, I have just ordered some more and are excited to see the longer term effects of no coffee! 🤩
How is MUD\WTR different from coffee?
The founder of MUD\WTR was disappointed that coffee gave him the quick jolt he needed to sustain his work but then gave him jittery anxiety followed by a crash in concentration. Isn’t this the exact story of so many of us? 🤔
‘I wasn’t mad at coffee, just disappointed. So I made something better.’
And this is what lead to the creation of MUD\WTR. 👀👌🙇
The drink is made with 1/7 the caffeine of regular coffee. They call this micro-dosing3Smit HJ, Rogers PJ. Unlike coffee, Mud contains more than just caffeine. Mud is also made with other USDA-organic certified ingredients cultivated from plants grown right there on the doorstep of their headquarters in California. These include whole mushroom powders4Gaoxing Ma, Wenjian Yang, Liyan Zhao, Fei Pei, Donglu Fang, Qiuhui Hu, A critical review on the health promoting effects of mushrooms nutraceuticals, Food Science and Human Wellness, Volume 7, Issue 2, 2018, Pages 125-133. well-researched in terms of their benefits on health and cognition. And the beverage contains no sugar or artificial sweeteners, either. 💚

Comparison: MUD\WTR vs. Four Sigmatic
Four Sigmatic is another mushroom coffee with much less caffeine in it than regular coffee. ☕️ If you’re looking to try a healthier alternative to coffee, which one should you go for?
Both MUD\WTR and Four Sigmatic contain Lion’s Mane and Chaga, but the former contains Cordyceps mushrooms while the latter contains Ashwagandha.
The other ingredients show that Four Sigmatic has a smaller mushroom profile than MUD\WTR has.
Both of these brands offer a nighttime and morning blend, and they are great vegan alternatives to coffee.
Perhaps one of the biggest differences is the price point, in which MUD\WTR is much higher at $40 compared to Four Sigmatic’s $20. 😳
MUD\WTR has more ingredients within it to give you the higher energy levels you’re looking for throughout the day. There is a small amount of caffeine within this formula that comes from the black tea leaves.
If you’re trying to remove coffee from your diet, MUD\WTR is the way to go. Four Sigmatic still contains coffee, just less than you would usually consume. So, you’re not really removing coffee from your diet at all with this option. 🤔

Our final verdict
MUD\WTR has so much going for it, and we believe it’s one of the best coffee alternatives this generation has been waiting for.
They’ve kept a micro-dose of the caffeine, the thing that everyone craves, but at a level where you won’t feel anxious, crash or have sleepless nights. They’ve then bulked it up with a full set of organic ingredients including mushroom powders for cognitive performance and health to spices with powerful immunity benefits that give the drink a unique and gorgeous taste without the need for sugar or artificial sweeteners. 👑
MUD\WTR has an incredibly potent group of followers on social media and has garnered rave reviews that we think it deserves. Almost everyone—especially millennials—drinks coffee. But so many people feel out of touch or can’t drink it because of the side effects. But MUD\WTR might just be the drink for coffee lovers and ex-coffee lovers alike. 🎁
In our MUD\WTR review, it has been a real game-changer. It’s an incredibly bold alternative to coffee with plenty of health benefits. And we can’t wait to see what they do next.
